Hi! I’m Ana Inês Barros, a portuguese girl owner of Ponto no i, and I breathe sewing every second of my day.
Adalynn is the dress you’ve been waiting for. A perfect fit with multiple options. Yes that’s right it has tons of options but I want to introduce you to some hacks I couldn’t resist.
I love working with knits….I almost can say I’m completely addicted to knits. And I had to show you what I think is the easiest way to finish a knit garment neckline – the neckband
Band Hack
Step 1
Measure your neckline. This neckband must not gape so we will have to cut the band shorter then the neckline. For fabrics with less stretch use 85% of the neckline measure. For stretchier fabrics you may need to make the band 20% shorter. Cut that band with a width of 2″.
Step 2
Fold the band in half with right sides together and sew the short ends. Then fold and press wrong sides together on the long side.
Step 3
Divide the neckband in four equal parts.
Step 4
Do the same for the dress neckline. Center back, center front and the midle points between these.
Step 5
Now you place the neckband on the neckline with right sides together aligning the marks. Usually I place the neckband seam on the center back neckline.
Step 6
Sew the neckband. Is suppose to strecth a bit but without gapping. Sew and serge
Step 7
Congratulations you’ve made a perfect neckband. Now just press the seams down and enjoy your creation proudly.
Sleeve ruffle
Step 1
Measure your sleeve “wrist”. You will use that measure plus 75% more or less. Let’s not add a big puffy ruffle to our sleeve 🙂
Use the same whith you used for the bodice ruffle, it will look equilibrated that way. Just follow the tutorial instructions for the ruffle option and use it for the sleeve.
Don’t wait anymore. Go grab your pattern and why not try these or all the other amazing hacks that we wanted so badly to share with you
