This slouchy pocket hack is super easy to sew on the Block Party Cardigan. You can use the inseam pocket to get this slouchy, cozy look. It makes a fabulous oversized pocket. You will sew the cardigan up the same as written in the tutorial with a minor change. Follow along with the sewing instructions below to learn how.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- The Block Party Cardigan pattern: If you don’t have it, grab it here.
- Ruler
- 2 Inseam Pockets (Mirror Image)
- Pins / Clips
- Sewing Machine and/or Serger
Let’s start sewing
Cut out your front and back bodice pieces at the cardi length. Cut 2 inseam pockets, mirror image. You will only need 2 pockets total.

Fold the top of the pocket 1/2″ toward the WRONG side, press.
Topstitch close to the inner raw edge.
REPEAT with the other pocket.

Place the WRONG side of the pocket onto the RIGHT side of the front bodice piece. Align the raw edges along the bottom and sides. Baste the two sides together. You can also baste the bottom of the pocket if you’d like. This helps to hold the layers in place when you sew the side seam and the neckband onto the front of the cardigan.
REPEAT with the other pocket and front bodice piece.
Simple instructions for finishing the cardigan are below. For more detailed instructions, follow the full tutorial included with the pattern.

Now that you have the pocket attached, you will continue construction per the tutorial.
Place the front and back bodice pieces RIGHT sides together and sew both shoulder seams.

Next, attach both of the sleeves.

Place the cardigan RIGHT sides together and align the side seam. Make sure you are aligning all of the layers. The pocket will be sandwiched inbetween.
Sew the side seam on both sides of the cardigan.

Finally, attach the bottom band and neckband. Make sure to align all of the layers raw edges.
And there you have it. A cute, slouchy pocket. How easy was that!
